Tottenham fans have laughed off the rather sensational news that the club could be about to re-sign former midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The Danish midfielder only departed the club for Internazionale back last January, but it looks as if his time in Italy could be short-lived, with Inter’s CEO Beppe Marotta confirming recently that he will be put on the transfer list ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

And according to reports in Spain (via Calcio Mercato), Jose Mourinho’s men are one of the teams that could be set to show an interest in his services, with a €35m (£31.2m) move being reported.

The 28-year-old was arguably at his best whilst playing in north London, racking up 69 goals and 89 assists in 305 appearances, so a move back to where he was comfortable might be on the cards. But when the news broke to Spurs fans, there was just one thing on their mind, and it wasn’t his playing ability:

“Lol as if levy would do that”
“No chance we pay more than what we sold him for”
“Yeah let’s pay more for a player that wants to leave and is unwanted by the club and coach”
“This can’t be true surely, that’s almost double what we sold him for”
“This is hogwash. No way on earth Levy would do that.”

This will be like signing Gareth Bale, pointless.”

Should Spurs re-sign Eriksen in January?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given Daniel Levy’s reputation of being very stringent with his money, something tells me that Spurs fans could be onto something here.
