Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have recently reacted to an announcement from the club regarding the departure of Trevor Birch.
On Thursday, the north London club announced that Birch had left his position as director of football operations at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (per Tottenham Hotspur).
Birch left his role with Jose Mourinho’s side to take up the position of chief executive of the English Football League (EFL).
In the post on the club’s website regarding the departure, Birch said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Spurs, however the opportunity to play a role in the Football League at such a crucial time is one I couldn’t turn down.”
After this was relayed on Twitter, lots of Spurs fans flocked to it to air their responses.
So, what did these Tottenham fans have to say about the departure of Trevor Birch?

Birch had only been in his position with the north London club since the beginning of September after he stepped down from a role with Swansea City (via Sky Sports).

As can be seen in the responses, many Spurs fans believed the departure to be related to the impending arrival LOSC Lille director of football Luis Campos.
Earlier this year, Campos was linked with a move to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, however, it never materialised (per ESPN).
Does the departure have any relation to Luis Campos coming in?
No, it means nothing
Yes, it is happening

Despite many Spurs fans assuming the departure was linked with Campos potentially arriving, Alasdair Gold was on hand to pour cold water on the rumours.
For anyone replying with 'Campos'. It's a completely different job role. Steve Hitchen is the director of football (technically performance director).

So, it would seem that many Spurs fans were barking up the wrong tree.
However, those that weren’t bringing up Campos appear to be rather surprised by the departure, which is understandable as he was only there for such a short space of time.
