Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have taken to Twitter to criticise Steven Bergwijn’s first-half performance in the club’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday evening.
Prior to the Liverpool fixture, Bergwijn had started five Premier League fixtures for Spurs, and, as yet, has failed to score or register an assist in the league for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Despite this, the £25.2 million-rated 23-year-old was given the nod to start the fixture ahead of Lucas Moura in the Tottenham side to face Jurgen Klopp’s team.
However, with Liverpool dominating possession and having a far greater amount of chances than Tottenham, eventually taking the lead in the 26th minute through Mohamed Salah, and in spite of the fact that Son Heung-min drew Spurs level in the 33rd minute, fans of the club were left furious with the abject first-half display of the Dutchman, with many taking to Twitter to let their feelings known.
Do you think Bergwijn is good enough for Spurs?
Yes
No
So, what exactly did these Tottenham Hotspur fans have to say in reaction to Steven Bergwijn’s first-half performance against Liverpool?
I’ve tried to be patient with Bergwijn but he’s pretty average. I get that Mourinho’s tactics stifle him a bit but whenever he has the opportunity to show some creative nous he fails.

Bergwijn looks knackered already.

All in all, it would appear that the vast majority of these Tottenham Hotspur fans were not impressed at all with Bergwijn’s first-half performance against Liverpool, with many claiming the winger looked tired, while others stated their belief that he is a waste of space in the Spurs side.
