Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to social media in order to respond to a Twitter post from @thespursweb which shared a picture of the club’s former midfielder Christian Eriksen and invited fans to caption the image. This was also shared by @ElliotHackney and was originally taken from live footage on BT Sport.
In his most recent appearance for his current employers, Inter defeated Bologna 3-1 at the San Siro and the Danish international midfielder was introduced as a substitute during stoppage time (as per Football Italia). Eriksen left north London to join the Italian giants at the start of the year in a deal reportedly worth £24.3m (as per Transfermarkt).
Having played over 300 times for the Lilywhites, during which he scored 69 goals and provided 89 assists (as per Transfermarkt), Eriksen made it clear he wanted to leave the club prior to securing his transfer to Serie A.
How have these Spurs fans reacted to this post about Christian Eriksen?
Looks a broken man. Grass isn’t always greener

looks worse then the last 12 months with us….

He gave us 5 great seasons, but thought too highly of himself that Barcelona or Real M would battle for his signature. They saw how he performed in his last season and dodged a bullet imho. He needs to play weekly, so need to go to a club where he’ll get that.

He was a good servant for the club.
Like most people when you don’t want to do something or be somewhere you lose interest, or if you’re unhappy it’s hard to get motivated. It’s sad to see him so miserable.— Dave Shaw (@dshbk) December 6, 2020
Thought he was great for us and a top player to watch when on form but just goes to prove the grass isn’t always greener on the other side!

Would you take Christian Eriksen back?
Yes
No

It’s sad. He needs to fire his agent.

It’s clear from the above responses that whilst some of these fans feel a little sympathetic towards the 28-year-old, some have suggested that his decline has come as a consequence of him wanting a move away from north London. The attacking-midfield player has only made Inter’s starting eleven for 30% of their Serie A fixtures so far this season (as per Transfermarkt) and so given he has become a bit-part player, it comes as no surprise that one supporter described him as looking like a ‘broken man’.
