Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relayed a report that claimed Spurs are interested in a move for Atalanta midfielder, Marten de Roon.

According to 90 Min, Tottenham and Manchester City are considering making a move for the £20.7 million-rated 29-year-old, with Jose Mourinho said to be ‘keen on investing in a new midfielder’ in order to give his squad an ‘extra boost’ in the title race over the second half of the season.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

So far this season, the defensive midfielder has been in fine form over his 11 Serie A appearances for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, making an average of 2.1 tackles, 2.3 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per game, culminating in a highly impressive average WhoScored match rating of 7.02 – ranking him as the club’s fifth-best performer in the Italian top flight.

However, after The Spurs Express relayed the report on Twitter, fans of Tottenham appeared rather undecided on their club making a move for De Roon.

Do you think Marten de Roon would be a good addition to the Spurs team?

So, what exactly did these Tottenham Hotspur fans have to say about the report regarding Marten de Roon?

“Not happening. More credible sources say we are in the race for Sabitzer, and hes a much better choice for Spurs. Team Captain for Leipzig (Mourinho loves leaders i.e. Davies, Højbjerg etc.) and has the offensive qualities we need, as well as the end product to show for.”

“If we want a Serie A midfielder we should go for Nicolo Barella”

“Former Middlesbrough player Martin de Roon?”

“Pretty sure he flopped in prem with Middlesbrough”

“yes please”

“Tier 4 and he’s about 30 I think so nahhhh”

“He’s a bit old for the pren but then it again it’s Jose type player”

All in all, it would appear that the majority of these Tottenham fans are not overly convinced about their club making a move for De Roon in January, with some referencing the player’s spell at Middlesbrough as a reason against the potential move, while others stated different targets they would rather see their club sign.
