Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relayed a report that claimed Matt Doherty will be given a run in the side over the festive period.

According to Football Insider, Doherty, who Spurs signed for £15.12 million back in August, is set to be reintegrated to Jose Mourinho’s starting XI over the coming weeks.

This news comes following Serge Aurier’s costly error in Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City, when the right-back needlessly shoved Wesley Fofana in the dying moments of the first half, conceding a penalty that Jamie Vardy duly converted.

However, after The Spurs Express shared this information on Twitter, many fans of Tottenham were left furious at the idea of Doherty coming back into the side ahead of Aurier.

All in all, it would appear that many of these Tottenham Hotspur fans are very much against the idea of Doherty taking Aurier’s place at right-back in the Spurs starting XI, with many suggesting that one mistake is not enough for the Ivory Coast international to be dropped, while others stated that they have not been impressed with Doherty since his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
