Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest transfer news concerning the north London club.
Castles claimed that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign a central defender in the upcoming January transfer window to allow his team to play higher up the pitch.
He also apparently wants the player to be fast and left-footed to help with the circulation of play.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Spurs fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on this update.
So, what did these Spurs fans make of this post on Castles’ transfer claim?

This is exactly what I’ve thought. Since he’s learned he can’t trust Sanchez and Dier and Toby aren’t fast, we sit back deeper. If we sign a top drawer CB who’s got pace we can sit slightly higher up which would be amazing in games against teams we dominate https://t.co/UvGdA30XBq

Do you think Spurs need to sign a defender in January?
One Spurs fan shared their thoughts on who the club could look to sign in January that would fit the criteria outlined by Castles.
Upamecano is left footed too ? Or the cheaper levy option would be David Alaba

Other Spurs fans replied to the post assuming that this latest update means the club won’t look to sign Inter defender Milan Skriniar, who they have been linked with in the past.
Wait so that cancels out Milan skriniar??? Since he is right footed

That rules out Skriniar then. Fast he aint. I agree that is Sanchez is on his way out, we need a CB with pace.

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that this group of Spurs fans would not be against seeing their club signing a new defender in January.
However, given how Spurs have only conceded two goals in their previous seven Premier League games prior to their midweek clash against Liverpool, this could suggest that they may not need to change their defensive line in January if they remain strong at the back.
