Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer is purely agent talk according to Football.london’s Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold.
It had previously been reported by the Evening Standard that Spurs were keen on signing the 26-year-old, who has been a regular for RB Leipzig in recent years.
Sabitzer has made 16 appearances for the club this season, and has chipped in with three goals and three assists in all competitions, as they sit third in the Bundesliga table.
Gold does claim that Spurs hold an interest in signing Sabitzer, but they are not in a position to land his signature at this moment in time.
Jose Mourinho’s side are currently sat seventh in the Premier League, after they were forced to settle for a point in their most recent match against Wolves on Boxing Day before their match against Fulham was postponed.
Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur supporters took to social media, to react to Gold’s important update on the club’s rumoured pursuit of Sabitzer.
Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below.
“Nothing like Alasdair’s ice bucket being thrown over your head to bring us back to reality!”
“Guessing it depends on Dele.”
“If Jose truly isn’t interested in Dele might as well sell him and use the money to get this Sabitzer deal done.”
“Looks like he could really hoof a ball out our of our 18 yard box – sign him up”
“Basically we are skint.”
“Another that got away then.”
“We really are finishing midtable”
“Oh well. There’s a little hope I suppose.”
