Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have recently flocked to a club post which shared footage of Belgian central defender Jan Vertonghen.

During the summer, the 33-year-old defender’s contract with Spurs came to an end and he moved to Portuguese outfit SL Benfica (per Transfermarkt).

On Thursday, it emerged that Tottenham forward Heung-min Son had won the FIFA Puskas award for 2020 with his solo goal against Burnley in 2019 (per BBC).

The man who got the assist for that goal was Vertonghen and the club shared footage of it alongside the comment: ‘The pass that made it all possible’ (per Tottenham Hotspur).

This tweet from the north London outfit had lots of Spurs fans talking about their former centre-back.

Vertonghen left the club having made 315 appearances for Spurs, in those outings he managed to score 14 goals and provide seven assists.

Since moving to Benfica, the 33-year-old centre-back has made eight appearances in the Liga NOS and been their 11th-best performer with a 6.87/10 average rating (per WhoScored).

As can be seen in these responses from Spurs fans, many of them aired that they missed Vertonghen being a Spurs player and plenty wanted to see him return to the club.
