Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting with plenty of gusto to news to that they could be set to announce a departure from the club.
A report in Portuguese newspaper O Jogo (via Sport Witness), claims that Gedson Fernandes could be about to have his loan terminated by his parent club Benfica. It says that the Portuguese side will look to strengthen from within this coming window rather than spend, and that would include bringing Fernandes back into the frame, not that you’d see much complaining in north London about it.
To call Fernandes a flop would perhaps be a little bit of an understatement, having joined Spurs on an 18-month loan back in January, he’s since gone on to make just 13 appearances in all competitions, starting only three of them and failing to contribute either a goal or an assist in that time.
So when the news reached Spurs fans that he could be on his way back, there weren’t too many people disappointed to see it:
