Spurs trailed Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Jamie Vardy’s injury-time penalty separated the teams at the half-time interval on Sunday afternoon.
Leicester controlled the possession in the early stages of the contest, but Spurs had the better of the chances, with Harry Kane going close twice in the opening 45 minutes.
But the opening goal of the game came from the penalty spot, as Serge Aurier, who is valued at £18 million (as per Transfermarkt), fouled Wesley Fofana in the penalty area, with the Leicester defender having his back to goal.
After referee Craig Pawson looked at the incident at the pitch-side monitor, a penalty was awarded, and Vardy dispatched the spot-kick confidently, as he struck the ball down the middle of the goal to give the visitors the lead on the day, before going on to seal their victory in the second half.
Aurier has come in for criticism for his role in the incident, with plenty of Tottenham Hotspur supporters unhappy with the defender’s challenge on the Foxes defender.

Very poor, never looked like we were in this game. Never looked like we cared very much either. Aurier was a disgrace.
