Speaking recently on the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Jamie Brown claimed that the culture is not right at Arsenal, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with their north London rivals this weekend.

Since being appointed Arsenal boss back in December of 2019, Mikel Arteta has so far overseen 27 games in charge of the club, winning 27, drawing seven and losing 11.

However, despite having already won the FA Cup and Community Shield in his short time at the club, this season, Arsenal have been struggling under the 38-year-old, losing five of their 10 Premier League fixtures, including their last three home fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Leicester City – results which have left the Gunners languishing in 14th place in the league table.

Arsenal’s struggles were one topic of conversation on a recent episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, as, when looking ahead to the north London derby this weekend, Brown discussed what he thought was going wrong for the Spaniard at Tottenham’s rivals, claiming that the Gunners are experiencing an issue which had plagued Spurs in years gone by.

He said: “Well if you look at their squad, I think it [is] kind of similar to what we’ve had in the past, where you feel as though there is that culture in the dressing room that’s just not right.

“I think Arteta has shown signs that he can be a good manager, it’s just the case they need to go and back him. The fact that they only really went and got [Thomas] Partey in the summer, I’m not sure that was enough. I think they needed plenty more quality.

“So, for me, they need to go and back him, really, they need to go and back him more. There’s still so much work to be done on that squad. So, for me, I think the blame does lie with the squad.

“Personally, at times, I have been worried when I’ve seen Arteta’s team play. But, you know, over recent weeks that worry has certainly gone down quite considerably.”

TIF Thoughts on Jamie Brown’s comments regarding Arsenal’s struggles…

From Brown’s comments, it is clear that the podcaster is of the belief that, in order for Arsenal to improve, the club have to back Arteta in the transfer market, while also adding that, although he has seen glimpses of decent football under Arteta at Arsenal, he is not overly worried about the upcoming north London derby.

And, we have to say, contrasting top of the table Tottenham’s form – the club are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League fixtures – to that of 14th placed Arsenal’s – who have picked up just four points from their last six league matches – it would not appear that Jose Mourinho’s side have a great deal to worry about ahead of the derby.
