Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been sharing some insight into the north London club’s reported transfer interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

This comes after Gold recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel where he spoke about a variety of subjects surrounding Jose Mourinho’s side.

On the topic of Spurs’ reported interest in Sabitzer, Gold had this to say on the matter.

He said: “As I’ve said before and I understand it’s still the scenario, Tottenham like Sabitzer. He’s a player they’ve looked at before, but at the moment, it’s just agent talk.

“You’ll probably see he’s being pushed here, there and everywhere for a move. Tottenham, like I say, do like him, but at the moment are not in a position to move for him in that sense.

“They need to raise finances; they need to create space in the squad.”

Leipzig signed Sabitzer back in 2014 from Rapid Vienna for £1.8 million. Since then, the midfielder, who is currently valued at £31.5 million, has made 204 appearances for the Bundesliga club in which he has managed to score 46 goals and provide 38 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments on Spurs’ interest in Sabitzer…

Despite the club’s apparent interest in Sabitzer, it appears that a potential move for him in January would not be as straightforward as some may think, with some tinkering needing to be done with their current squad before Spurs sign anyone next month, according to Gold.

However, with Sabitzer having scored three goals and provided one assist in the Bundesliga so far this season and Spurs having failed to win a league match in their previous four fixtures, maybe adding someone like Sabitzer to their squad could be beneficial for the team in an attacking sense.
