Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relayed a report that claimed Derby County are interested in Matty Longstaff.
According to the report by the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (via Chronicle Live), the Championship side is planning to make a loan bid for the midfielder in the January transfer window, with the former Newcastle manager and now Derby technical director Steve McClaren identifying Longstaff as a potential target.

So far this season, Longstaff has made just one appearance for the Newcastle first team, coming on as a second-half substitute in the club’s 2-0 loss to Southampton at the start of November.

All in all, it would appear that opinion is somewhat split amongst these Newcastle fans as to whether or not they would like to see Longstaff make the move to Derby in January, with some stating their belief that the move would be terrible for the £4.5 million-rated 20-year-old, while others have claimed that he may as well leave the club, as it appears he is not in Steve Bruce’s first-team plans at present.
