Liam Kennedy has been speaking on the latest edition of NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith about all things relating to Newcastle United.

Starting with an easy one, what number does Wilson wear for Newcastle?

One of the main points that he spent some time on was the proposed takeover of the Toon by PCP Capital Partners, PIF and the Reuben brothers that was withdrawn in July.

The Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test was supposed to be completed by the end of April, and here we are in December without a resolution reached on the takeover.

The bid was withdrawn in the summer before a second attempt behind closed doors also failed, prompting Mike Ashley to hire two lawyers to help him force the takeover through.

It was then revealed in November that the club were in a legal battle with the Premier League over the proposed takeover.

So, when asked if he could see this going on for another six months, Kennedy issued an interesting reply.

He said: “We didn’t think we would be this far down the line where we are, so is it a possibility? Yeah, it definitely is.

“We could easily find [ourselves] here in six months. Do I think we’ll be here in a year? No, but six months? Yeah, we could easily be in that position depending on the way things go.”

Do you think it will take this long?

Yes, it is possible

Yes, it is possible

No, it will be done before then

No, it will be done before then

TIF Thoughts on Kennedy’s claim…

Kennedy’s claim that this could go on for another six months after the amount of time already spent on this whole situation is a concerning one.

However, now that the deal is with the legal teams, then we understand why it could take that long.

We feel that if talks stretch into next summer and the takeover still does not go through, then many Newcastle fans might be devastated.

So we will watch on and hope that this does not go on for another six months.
