Lee Ryder has been speaking on the latest edition of the Everything is Black and White podcast about all things relating to Newcastle United.

1 of 8

Starting with an easy one, what number does Wilson wear for Newcastle?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was the club’s January transfer plans.

In the last window, Newcastle spent just under £35m and brought in Callum Wilson, Jamal Lewis, Ryan Fraser, Jeff Hendrick, and Mark Gillespie.

Their transfer budget in the summer was only meant to be around £35m, so you would think that the Toon don’t have too much to spend in the upcoming transfer window.

However, Ryder claims that they could make some permanent deals if they feel they can get a good deal on a certain player.

He said: “I don’t think you can rule out a permanent deal for anybody, but it would have to be on Newcastle’s business terms.

“If there’s a deal to be done that they think can be of value for them in the future, then they will take it.

“There were a couple that they missed out on last summer.

“There’s also the fact that there’ll be out of contract players going into the second half of the year that they can start negotiations with.

“They’re definitely going to be in and around a few deals.”

Do you think Newcastle will be busy in the transfer market?

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s potential transfer plans…

It seems that, according to Ryder, Newcastle might actually be looking for some permanent deals in the January transfer window.

He also seems to suggest that Newcastle missed out on a few players in the last transfer window and that he seems to expect that the Toon will be busy.

However, Newcastle have not signed a player permanently in January since the 2018/19 season, so we would be surprised if they did this time around, especially with Newcastle eight points clear of the relegation zone and in the middle of a legal battle over the proposed takeover.

However, Ryder seems to think that the Toon might be busy, so we will have to wait and see.
