Lee Ryder has been speaking on the latest edition of the Everything is Black and White podcast about all things relating to Newcastle United.

1 of 8

Starting with an easy one, what number does Wilson wear for Newcastle?

One of the topics that he spent a bit of time on was the news that beIN SPORTS and the Premier League have agreed a new broadcast deal for the MENA region until 2025.

This could be significant for the Toon because beIN were in opposition to the proposed takeover by PCP Capital Partners, PIF, and the Reuben brothers because they didn’t think that Saudi Arabia (through PIF) should be able to buy a Premier League club after they had pirated beIN’s streams.

The proposed takeover was then withdrawn not long after Saudi Arabia blocked beIN, and now the deal is with the legal teams.

Ryder thinks that this legal case will unveil what has been going on behind the scenes in this takeover attempt.

He said: “The reality is that a lot is going to come out in this legal battle that’s going on behind the scenes, and it’s one of them where there is no quick fix here.”

Do you think the legal challenge will reveal everything?

No, some things will stay hidden

Yes, it will all come out

TIF Thoughts on Ryder’s claim…

This legal challenge that The Chronicle reporter is referring to became public knowledge in November, but it might have been going on for a lot longer than that, considering Mike Ashley hired two lawyers in September to help him force through this takeover.

If the legal challenge is successful, then the consortium intend to bid again for the Toon, and maybe the takeover will finally be completed.

However, this news regarding beIN could be bad for the deal, or it could be good; we just don’t know.

So, we will be watching on to see what comes from this legal challenge and what this new TV deal means for the takeover.
