Lee Clark has been speaking on a recent edition of #NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith and Steve Howey about all things Newcastle United.

Easy one to get us underway, in what month during 2019 was Steve Bruce appointed Newcastle manager?

One of the topics that he spent a bit of time on was if he would ever take the Toon job.

Clark played for Newcastle during his career and has managed the likes of Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City, and Blackpool, but has been out of a managerial job since he left Blyth Spartans.

However, Clark would love to manage the Toon one day even though he thinks he would be mad to take on the job if he was offered it.

He said: (33:55) “Listen, I am a Geordie; I have played for the club; I have coached at the club.

“Would I turn down the opportunity to become the manager? [Of] course I wouldn’t.

“But it would be absolutely madness in terms of doing it.”

Do you think Clark could manage Newcastle?

No, probably not good enough

TIF Thoughts on Clark’s comments…

Considering he used to play for Newcastle, it is probably no real surprise to hear that Clark would love to be the manager of the club someday.

However, he seems to understand what a tough job it would be and seems to be having a bit of fun with these comments.

Clark says himself he is a Geordie, and we can imagine he only wants what is best for the Toon, and we like that he would want the job if it ever became available, but we think he understands that he is unlikely to be offered the job any time soon.

The former Newcastle man, though, does make some interesting points throughout this episode, and we recommend any Newcastle fan to have a listen to his thoughts.
