A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to slam the display of Jonjo Shelvey during the Toon’s 1-0 defeat to Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
The Toon conceded in the second half when Josh Dasilva swept home and could not get back into the game as they crashed out of the competition.
Steve Bruce named quite a strong team, but Newcastle struggled to get going, and many fans fumed at the display of Shelvey, who was the captain for the night.

Was Shelvey that bad?
Yes, he was dreadful
No, others were worse
The 28-year-old, who is valued at £13.05m by Transfermarkt, has actually been decent in the league this season, but it is clear that these Newcastle fans felt that he was dreadful against the Bees.

Newcastle had chances but were very poor and now face a run of games that will see them play Manchester City, Liverpool and Leicester City; if they play this poorly again, then they could be in for some more pain in the weeks ahead.
Newcastle had a good opportunity to reach the semi-final of a cup competition.
Still, they never got going, and it seems as if many fans were particularly angry at the display of Shelvey.
