Many Newcastle supporters have flocked to social media in order to respond to a Twitter post from @NUFC360 in which they shared a report from the Daily Mail claiming the club are interested in bringing James Tavernier back to the club.
The 29-year-old defender left St. James’ Park in 2014 to join Wigan Athletic in a deal reportedly worth £90k (as per Transfermarkt). In the summer of 2015, the right-back moved north of the border to join Rangers and has been there ever since.
According to the report, The Toon are one of a number of clubs to have shown an interest in bringing the player back to England.
How have these Newcastle fans reacted to the reports linking them with a move for James Tavernier?
An attacking full back with a brilliant delivery and threat in front of goal… playing Bruce ball, match made in heaven if you ask me.

It’s clear from the above responses that these Newcastle fans would be delighted to see the club bring Tavernier back to Tyneside. So far, in the Scottish Premiership this season, the defender has scored an incredible 10 goals in 16 appearances (as per Transfermarkt).
Taking that into consideration, in our view, it’s pretty clear that the £4.5m-rated man would add a goal threat to Steve Bruce’s side as well as performing his defensive duties.
