A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from Keith Downie that confirmed the Toon’s proposed game against Aston Villa on Friday has been suspended due to a viral outbreak within the Newcastle squad.
It was claimed on Sunday that there had been five positive tests returned by the club, but that number is thought to have grown, and the Toon have closed the training ground and put all of the first-team squad into isolation.
They had asked the Premier League to postpone the game against Villa due to concerns that the virus will spread while they are travelling down to Villa Park and now it has been suspended.
This post from Downie has drawn in these Newcastle fans who had their say on the matter.
For the best and we wish the guys a speedy recovery ??

You have to ask how this had happened.
Players not following gov guidelines?
Friends and family visits?
Club not following guidelines? https://t.co/QbjtPBXq2r— NUFCmemorabilia (@Retro_NUFC) December 1, 2020
Nice to see the FA do care about their players and not just their previous TV money

Yeah, didn’t think it would be on

Do you think this is the right decision?
Yes, they have to suspend the game
No, it should go ahead
The initial thought was that Newcastle would have to have less than 14 players available, including the Under-21s, for the game to be cancelled.
Still, it seems as if it is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and the Toon’s game against Villa has been postponed.
It looks like many Toon fans think that this is the right decision, and we hope that all who have tested positive in the Toon’s squad make a full recovery.
