Supporters of Newcastle United have recently reacted to a claim regarding the funds that will be available to Steve Bruce during the January transfer window.
According to a report by Lee Ryder for Chronicle Live, the current ‘takeover limbo’ surrounding the Toon will not impact the club’s transfer budget in January.
It is claimed that if Bruce needs them, then funds will be made available by Mike Ashley during the winter transfer window.
That is despite the fact that Ashley has taken a ‘back seat’ in recent weeks and not attended Newcastle’s previous two fixtures, although he has been ‘kept up to speed on occurrences on Tyneside‘.
After this was relayed to social media by The Chronicle, lots of Newcastle fans had their say.
So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say about the claim regarding January transfer funds?
NEW: Takeover limbo won't affect #NUFC's January budget.

Lee there will be no budget, I don’t expect anyone to come in unless there is an injury, and if they did it would be a loan

It feels like everything from the last 3-4 years or so is just repeating itself with NUFC in regards to the takeover and transfer windows, haha

In the Toon’s current squad, right wing looks like the position in most need of recruitment as Bruce only has Jacob Murphy as an out-and-out option in that area (per Transfermarkt).
Will Newcastle pay money for any players in January?
No, it seems unlikely
Yes, I think we will do
Ashley only ever spends in January when we’re in trouble. Can’t even see a singular loan signing coming in with what’s happened in the league so far.

As in it would have been £0 before legal proceedings were launched and it will still be £0 now!! ? #NUFC

During the summer transfer window, Newcastle sealed the arrival of five players on permanent deals (per Transfermarkt).
Three were on free transfers and two arrived for fees – those two players being Callum Wilson and Jamal Lewis, who set the Toon back £20.03m and £14.85m respectively.
What because we have no budget ? Never had one

Yeah it’ll go from 0 to 0.

As can be seen in these responses from Toon fans, despite the fact that the claim on transfer funds was relatively positive, many supporters did not believe there would be a transfer budget to begin with.
