A number of Newcastle United supporters have taken to Twitter to praise winger Jacob Murphy for his role in Dwight Gayle’s recent winner against West Brom.

The Magpies took an early lead in the game through Miguel Almiron inside the first minute, before Darnell Furlong equalised for the visitors at St James’ Park.

But Murphy was introduced as a second-half substitute with ten minutes remaining in the match, and he wasted no time in making an instant impact for the home side.

The 25-year-old whipped in an inch-perfect cross for Dwight Gayle, who headed home clinically against his former club, to secure the points for Steve Bruce’s side.

Take a look at how some of the Newcastle United fans reacted to Gayle’s winner, with the majority of the comments being full of praise for Murphy’s contribution in the goal.

Others were also impressed by Gayle’s contribution in the win, and will be keen to see more of the same from the forward at the earliest of opportunities.

Newcastle United are now sat 11th in the Premier League table, and will be hoping they can build on this impressive showing heading into the festive period, with a hectic fixture list coming up.

Murphy has struggled for consistent game time with Newcastle this season, and has made just nine appearances in total for the Magpies this term.

The 25-year-old spent last year’s campaign on loan with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, and made 44 appearances for the Owls, and chipped in with nine goals and six assists in his time with the club.

But he’s found regular minutes in Steve Bruce’s side hard to come by so far this term, and will be hoping that his impressive substitute appearance against the Baggies can lead to regular game time in the near future.
