Supporters of Newcastle United have fumed after a transfer claim emerged regarding Manchester United’s Phil Jones.
According to Eurosport, as cited by Chronicle Live, Steve Bruce is eyeing a potential move to bring the English defender to St. James’ Park.
It is claimed that Bruce has been ‘making checks on his situation‘ at Old Trafford with a view to making an offer to sign the 28-year-old centre-back.
Supposedly, though, the fact that Jones is on an £80,000-a-week contract in Manchester may prove to be an ‘issue‘ in the transfer.
This report was relayed to Newcastle fans on Twitter by The Chronicle and it had lots of them talking.

Jones currently has until the summer of 2023 on his contract with the Red Devils and a market value of £5.4m according to Transfermarkt.

During the 2019/20 Premier League season, Jones made just two league appearances for United in which he neither scored nor assisted a goal (per WhoScored).
Over the two games, Jones earned a weak 6.39/10 average rating and that made him the 11th-worst performer in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
This season, Jones has not made a single appearance for the Red Devils in any competition.
