Supporters of Newcastle United have been flocking to a report which recently emerged regarding Toon left-back Jamal Lewis.

During the summer transfer window, the north-east club secured the arrival of the 22-year-old defender on a permanent transfer from Norwich City for £14.85m (per Transfermarkt).

In a recent piece by Chronicle Live, the Liverpool Echo’s sport audience editor Joe Rimmer discussed Liverpool’s stance on Lewis prior to him signing for the Toon.

He said: “Liverpool were indeed huge admirers of Jamal Lewis.

“At one stage he appeared to be their first-choice left-back option as they looked for backup to Andy Robertson but they would eventually switch their attention to Kostas Tsimikas.”

These comments were shared on Twitter by The Chronicle and they had lots of Newcastle fans discussing the left-back.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say about Jamal Lewis?

“I feel genuinely sorry for the lad, he must have the talent but this move is destroying him. He is playing in a team with little to no confidence and a side incapable of retaining possession or pass to another team mate”
