Supporters of Newcastle United have flocked to an announcement from the club regarding the appointment of Darren England for their upcoming match against West Bromwich Albion.
In the upcoming round of Premier League fixtures, the Toon are set to host Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon.
On Wednesday, Newcastle shared the link to a post on their website which revealed that England would be the man in charge of the clash (per Newcastle United).
Alongside England will be Martin Atkinson as the fourth official and Anthony Taylor on VAR.
After this announcement was relayed to supporters by the club, it had lots of them talking.

Newcastle’s previous fixture in the Premier League was postponed due to a viral outbreak in the Toon’s camp (per BBC) and this had many wondering about the fixture with the Baggies.

So far this season, England has refereed eight matches in all competitions, only two of which have been in the Premier League (per Transfermarkt).
Four of those eight games have come in the Championship and neither of the two games in the Premier League involved Newcastle.

As can be seen in these responses from Newcastle fans, many seemed to draw the conclusion from the club’s announcement that the game with West Brom would be going ahead.
