Supporters of Newcastle United have aired some concerns after comments from Steve Bruce emerged on social media.

In the current round of Premier League fixtures, the Toon host Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in an 8pm kick-off at St. James’ Park tonight (per Premier League).

Prior to the meeting between the two sides, Newcastle’s manager spoke to the press and aired what he was expecting from the clash with the Reds (per Chronicle Live).

He said: “We know what to expect and we know what’s coming. We need to perform like we did at Man City but have that little bit more in the final third.”

These comments were shared on Twitter by The Chronicle and they had lots of Toon fans worrying.

Going into the match with Liverpool, the Toon are without a win in the previous four games in all competitions, three of which have been defeats (per Transfermarkt).

While Bruce claimed that his side has to perform like it did against Manchester City, the north-east club was defeated 2-0 by Pep Guardiola’s outfit (per BBC).

In that outing, the Toon saw just 25% of the possession during the game and mustered a measly two shots on target, while conceding 12 fouls.

“I’m speechless. The man is clueless. If he honestly thinks having 12% possession in the 2nd half of football is a great performance, we’ve seriously got no hope. The sooner you go bruce the better. Seriously speechless.”
