Speaking recently on the Here We Go podcast, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano discussed the future of Liverpool midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum.

Since joining Liverpool from Newcastle United in what was a £24.75 million deal back in 2016, Wijnaldum has gone on to make 204 appearances for the club, scoring 20 goals and providing 16 assists along the way.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

So far this season, the £36 million-rated 30-year-old has featured in all 11 of Liverpool’s Premier League matches, as well as all but one of their Champions League fixtures.

However, with the midfielder’s contract set to expire at the end of the season and, as yet, the club failing to agree a new deal with the Dutch international, as of January, Wijnaldum will be free to talk to clubs regarding a move away from Liverpool in the summer.

This was one subject of discussion on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, in which Romano provided an update on the situation of Wijnaldum.

He said (35:01): “Obviously, they have to resolve the situation of Wijnaldum. We have [to] always remember that there are talks, but there is no agreement yet between Liverpool and Gini Wijnaldum.

“So, pay attention to this situation because in two weeks he can sign with any other club in the world as a free agent, so pay attention to Wijnaldum.”

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments regarding the future of Georginio Wijnaldum…

Considering how important Wijnaldum has been within Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this season, as can be seen from his consistent position in Liverpool’s starting XI, it is not difficult to imagine that Klopp will not want to lose the 30-year-old next summer, let alone on a free transfer.

However, with no agreement in place with Wijnaldum as yet, and with Barcelona reportedly interested in the centre-midfielder, as each day passes, Wijnaldum’s departure from Merseyside would appear to become more and more probable.
