First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

One of the teams that he talked about in detail was Liverpool, and while he was talking about the Reds, he lauded Fabinho.

Liverpool are without Virgil van Dijk, and Joe Gomez and the natural defensive midfielder has played as a centre-back on 13 occasions this season, and it seems as if he has impressed Castles with his displays.

He said: “In Fabinho, they have found probably a better substitute than anyone they could buy on the market for Virgil van Dijk.

“I mean, the quality of his play in multiple positions, his tactical intelligence [and] I think his general intelligence as a footballer.

“I was speaking to someone who has known Fabinho since very early in his career, in fact, was partially responsible for bringing him from Brazilian football to Europe, and he said he’s one of the most intelligent individuals he’s ever worked with in the game.”

Do you think Fabinho has been impressive this season?

TIF Thoughts on Fabinho…

The Brazilian, who is valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, was signed by the Reds in the summer of 2018 for £40.5m from AS Monaco, and he has made 99 appearances for Liverpool since then in various positions.

However, in the games that he has played centre-back this season for the Reds in both the Champions League and the Premier League, they have not lost a match and conceded five goals.

So, it looks like he has fitted in nicely for the injured Van Dijk and Gomez, and it seems as if he has also impressed Castles.

We have to agree with Castles as you only have to look at Liverpool’s record this season with Fabinho in defence to realise how important he has been for them this season.
