Speaking recently on a video posted by Leeds United Live on Facebook, Beren Cross claimed that he does not expect the club to spend in the January transfer window.

Following a decent start to their 2020/21 Premier League campaign, with the club sitting in 12th place in the league table having won four, drawn two and lost four of their 10 games so far this season, as well as earning the reputation of being an exciting side to watch, the argument could be made that Marcelo Bielsa’s side do not look like a team who have been absent from the top flight of English football for 16 years.

Starting with an easy one what shirt number does Bamford wear for Leeds United?

And, according to Cross, speaking on a video for Leeds United Live, it would appear that Bielsa is very happy with the side he currently has at his disposal, as the journalist claimed that he does not think the club will be going into the January transfer window with the aim of signing any additional players.

He said: “I’d be amazed if anybody major came in, unless there’s some sort of major injury. I think they’re very, very happy with the squad they’ve got, they’ve clearly got options in every position. It’s just getting everybody fit.

“When you look at the bench now, if you then add [Pablo] Hernandez, [Diego] Llorente [and Jamie] Shackleton to that, I mean, that’s a very, very good bench – if you had everybody fit, which, of course, is always going to be [a] very, very rare situation.

“But, from what we’re hearing, from the people we’ve spoken to, it does sound like they’re going to be quite reluctant to do too much. They’ve already spent a lot of money, of course, in the summer. They put together a squad that they want to see pull together across the next year or two. A team that will first stay in the league and then establish themselves next season.

“So, I think unless there was a major injury that they really had to cover, and I really don’t think they’ll do too much in terms of incomings.”

TIF Thoughts on Beren Cross’ comments regarding Leeds United’s January transfer plans…

From Cross’ comments, it is clear that, unless Leeds suffer a major injury to one of their players prior to January, the journalist does not feel that the club will look to add to their squad.

And, as Cross points out, the club did spend a total of £96.1 million on seven players in the summer transfer window, without receiving a penny from the sale of any of their own players, so, the argument could be made that the club have done all of their shopping for the season already.
