Pundit Adrian Clarke has recently hailed the performances of Jack Harrison and he believes that Gareth Southgate might be looking at him for a potential England call-up.

Clarke appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the Totally Football Show podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Premier League. One team they talked about was Leeds. Clarke flagged up Harrison as an ‘underrated’ player and he hailed his chance creation abilities as well.

Harrison is currently at Leeds on loan from Manchester City and in the Premier League campaign, the 24-year-old has contributed to seven goals in 15 appearances so far. In the Championship last season, the Englishman had contributed to 14 goals in the campaign.

Is Harrison an underrated player?

Clarke believes that Harrison’s output for Leeds is ‘very good’ and he believes that Gareth Southgate might be looking at the Man City loanee with interest.

He said (40:15): “I just wanted to flag up a player that I think might be one of the most underrated or under-appreciated in the league and that’s Jack Harrison. In recent weeks, he scored two worldies – absolute beauties into the top corner. And in terms of creating chances for teammates, only three players have done a better job in the Premier League this season – De Bruyne, Fernandes and Grealish. His output on the left side for Leeds is very, very good. And look, I think Gareth Southgate must be looking at him with a bit of interest because he’s got end product.”

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

TIF Thoughts on Clarke’s comments on Harrison…

In the current campaign, Harrison is fifth in the Premier League for live-ball passes that lead to an attempt on goal. He’s also sixth in the division for goal creation actions from live-ball passes (as per FBRef).

This shows that he’s certainly a valuable chance creator. For Leeds, Harrison has generated the highest Expected Assists per 90 minutes tally in the campaign – 0.29.  This shows that he’s a vital player for Marcelo Bielsa’s men and it is understandable why Clarke is full of praise for the 24-year-old.
