Leeds United podcaster Gerry McNamee has been sharing his praise for Whites defender Pascal Struijk.

This comes after McNamee recently made an appearance on the latest video from Leeds-themed podcast LS11 where he reflected on the Yorkshire club’s recent 5-0 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

During the video, McNamee had this to say on Struijk, who started and played the entirety of the game against Sam Allardyce’s side.

He said: “I think with [Marcelo] Bielsa, you’ve got to earn your place back and we probably don’t mention him so much because he doesn’t put a foot wrong, his passing, his interceptions everything else in the last two games, he’s been excellent.”

Goals from Ezgjan Alioski, Jack Harrison, Raphinha, Rodrigo and an unfortunate own goal from Baggies man Romaine Sawyers secured the three points for in an emphatic win for Leeds.

In regards to Struijk, Leeds signed the Dutchman to their U23 squad back in the 2018 January transfer window from Ajax’s U19 squad for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £2.25 million, made his senior debut for Bielsa’s side back in December 2019 in a Championship clash against Hull City where Leeds won 2-0.

TIF Thoughts on Gerry McNamee’s comments on Struijk…

Now that Leeds have managed to keep two consecutive clean sheets in their previous two league games that Struijk played in after a spell out of action on the substitutes’ bench, this proves McNamee’s point that the defender has earned his place in the team.

Have you been impressed by Struijk's performances recently?

With Struijk making the joint-highest number of tackles and clearances in the game against West Brom and earning himself a solid match rating of 7.71/10 for his overall performance, this suggests to us that he should keep his place in the team for the foreseeable future.
