Leeds United fans cannot contain themselves after watching back the footage of their winning goal against Burnley yesterday.

It’s a little bit ironic how the goal came about. For all the talk of Marcelo Bielsa and his Leeds United team being an entertaining side, and the perceived emphasis on quick ‘pass and move’ build-up, sometimes a long ball over the top can be just as effective in getting the job done as taking 30 or 40 passes to move up the field.

And although there is just a slight bit of controversy over the decision to award the penalty, with some replays indicating that Burnley shot-stopper Nick Pope actually managed to get a bit of the ball during his challenge on Patrick Bamford, some of the Elland Road faithful felt he deserved a sending-off. Meanwhile, other fans took to the post to share their delight over Bamford’s penalty.

“Brilliant ball from Ayling and what a penalty by Bamford! Taken with so much confidence”

“Best penalty I have seen a Leeds player take in a long long time”

“Need a penalty taker like that at the Euros.”

“Underrated pass”
“Awesome ball @lukeayling_8″
“Sweet left foot.”

Teams around the Premier League need to watch out, it seems. Not just content with passing you to death, they’ve got that one long ball in their back pocket that can hurt you as well.
