Many Leeds United supporters flocked to social media following their narrow defeat to West Ham United on Friday night to criticise the performance of Helder Costa.
Despite taking the lead through Mateusz Klich’s first-half penalty, Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten after Tomas Soucek levelled the score before Angelo Ogbonna headed home the winner with ten minutes of normal time remaining (as per BBC Sport).
The Portuguese winger, who signed for the club permanently in the summer in a deal worth £15.93m (as per Transfermarkt) came on at half time to replace Jack Harrison. However, following his latest display, he left some of the club’s supporters questioning whether he is good enough to play regularly at Premier League level.
How have these Leeds fans reacted to Helder Costa’s display?
@heldercosta_ just to let you know, we’re playing in white ?????

Hèlder Costa would want to wake up & smell the coffee. Didn’t look a bit interested tonight, looked lazy & the reason @LUFC lost tonight. The team in general looked tired in the 2nd half. #MOT #LEEvWHU

Helder costa coming on was pointless,we may as well be playing with 10 men.defensively hes about as much use as a speed bump

Professional footballer Helder Costa btw, stealing a living. Why make the tackle there? He’s got his back to goal and of course they score from it #lufc

It’s clear from the above responses that following Leeds’ sixth defeat of the season, these fans have been left extremely frustrated by what they have seen from the 26-year-old.
And, who can blame them, as the midfielder only achieved a rating of 3/10 (Through it all Together).
