Many Leeds United flocked to social media during the club’s Premier League clash with West Ham United at Elland Road on Friday night to criticise Mateusz Klich.
The Polish international midfielder was a starter for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, in the heart of midfield and scored the Whites’ only goal of the game, from the penalty spot, at the second time of asking.
Initially, he saw his penalty saved by his compatriot Lukasz Fabianski but after the VAR reviewed the spot-kick, they adjudged the goalkeeper to have stepped forward off of his goal line and it was ordered to be retaken. Despite the player scoring, his performance doesn’t appear to have gone down well with sections of the club’s support.
What did these Leeds United fans have to say about Mateusz Klich’s display?
For me klich has been poor tonight.

Klich is shocking and has been most of the season. His passing and vision are poor, as is his decision making. And his shooting, well, can’t believe he takes penalties.

Klich looks knackered

Klich has been such a passenger tonight. Just doesn’t look himself #lufc

I really really really don’t want to admit this but klich hasn’t been himself the past few games #lufc

Klich is having a shocker. First half he wasn’t even attempting to track runs.

Were you disappointed by Mateusz Klich's performance?

Are we ready for a Klich discussion on here or is he immune from criticism because of being a fan favourite??!
Alioksi too, good for a laugh off field but we need better performances on!#lufc

It’s clear from the above responses that this sample of the Elland Road faithful were left unimpressed by what they saw of the 30-year-old on the night. According to WhoScored, going into this game his average performance rating in the Premier League stood at a solid 6.83/10, which, in our view suggests the player just had an off night.
