Many Leeds United flocked to social media during the club’s Premier League clash with West Ham United at Elland Road on Friday night to criticise Mateusz Klich.

The Polish international midfielder was a starter for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, in the heart of midfield and scored the Whites’ only goal of the game, from the penalty spot, at the second time of asking.

Initially, he saw his penalty saved by his compatriot Lukasz Fabianski but after the VAR reviewed the spot-kick, they adjudged the goalkeeper to have stepped forward off of his goal line and it was ordered to be retaken. Despite the player scoring, his performance doesn’t appear to have gone down well with sections of the club’s support.

It’s clear from the above responses that this sample of the Elland Road faithful were left unimpressed by what they saw of the 30-year-old on the night. According to WhoScored, going into this game his average performance rating in the Premier League stood at a solid 6.83/10, which, in our view suggests the player just had an off night.
