Leeds United suffered a heavy defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
The Whites fell 2-0 behind early on, as a quick-fire double from Scott McTominay saw the hosts take control of proceedings in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
A Bruno Fernandes brace, Dan James and Victor Lindelof also added to the scoresheet for Manchester United, as they moved up to third in the Premier League table.
One player that struggled to make a noticeable impact for Leeds in the defeat was Kalvin Phillips, who played the full 90 minutes on the day.
The midfielder lost possession eight times during the first half, and was caught out of position a number of times, before being substituted by Marcelo Bielsa at half time.
Phillips was a potential transfer target for Manchester United previously, although a move failed to materialise for one reason or another.
Plenty of the Elland Road faithful took to social media to issue their verdict on Phillips’ performance against the Red Devils on Sunday evening.

Phillips sleeping – joke defending. My guess is 8-0. #lufc #MUNLEE

Track it back. Needlessly and sloppily given away by Bamford (like Raphinha and Rodrigo on previous goals). Midfield exposed, set piece, lose the first header and this time Phillips defending like a schoolboy. Making this a tough watch Leeds. #lufc

Phillips asleep now… I’m saying 10. Unless there’s some kinda minor miracle, cos we’ll just keep bombing forward! ? #lufc

In a game like this we need more cover in midfield. Phillips drives on then gets caught out. The gaps in the middle of the pitch are a joke #lufc

Why? Phillips & klich were embarrassing in the 1st half

Phillips clearly irked many Leeds supporters for his first-half performance against Manchester United on Sunday and given he was hauled off at the break, it could be argued that Bielsa may have been thinking similarly to the Whites fanbase.
