Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relayed comments made by former Spurs striker, Darren Bent, regarding Gareth Bale’s current level of performance.

Speaking recently to TalkSPORT, Bent, who scored 25 goals over 79 appearances in his time at Spurs, questioned how much time Jose Mourinho is prepared to afford Bale before the 57-year-old decides that the Welshman’s loan in north London ‘is not working’.

The 36-year-old also stated: “All the talk has been about [Heung-min] Son and [Harry] Kane being superb, but when they get Bale back, when Bale gets back to himself, Bale this and Bale that. But right now he’s nowhere near the Bale we can remember.”

He continued: “He’s not played consistently for about three years and he’s had big injuries as well, so that Bale may never come back.”

So, what did these Tottenham Hotspur fans have to say in reaction to Darren Bent’s comments regarding Gareth Bale?

Following his return to Spurs on a one-year loan deal back in September, Bale initially missed a number of games for Mourinho’s side due to a knee injury.

However, over the seven fixtures that the £22.5 million-rated 31-year-old has now featured in for Tottenham this season, prior to the club’s Europa League clash with LASK on Thursday evening, it is true that the winger has not exactly been in sensational form, scoring just one goal and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.62 over his three Premier League appearances as well as averaging a 6.64 match rating over his four Europa League games.

All in all, it would appear that the vast majority of these Tottenham fans are not in agreement with Bent’s comments regarding Bale, with some stating their belief that the 31-year-old will be instrumental in Spurs’ chances of success this season, while others simply claimed that Bent has no idea what he is talking about.
