On the topic of Villa’s most improved players throughout the year, Rodgers had this to say on Konsa (47.22)

He said: “With game time, his progression and his improvement, his all-round development, there’s been so many occasions now where you actually look up and when he does something and you think, wow, from what I perceived to be a safe purchase for a promising player from Brentford, I think we’ve got a real talent on our hands.”

Villa signed the defender back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Championship side Brentford in a deal worth a reported fee of £11.97 million.

Since then, the Englishman, who is currently valued at £10.8 million, has made 42 appearances for Villa in which he has managed to score four goals and provide two assists (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Rodgers’ comments on Konsa…

Listening to what Rodgers had to say about Konsa, it’s clear that he has been impressed by what he has seen from the 23-year-old on the pitch throughout the year.

Given how Konsa has so far managed to earn himself a season rating of 6.98/10 for his performances in the Premier League compared to the rating of 6.47/10 that he earned himself over the 2019/20 season, this shows that he has improved his game since last year.

Given how Villa have managed to keep five clean sheets in the league so far this season in the games Konsa has played in, this also goes to show that he has been an important member of the squad for Dean Smith’s side.
