David Ornstein has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Ornstein & Chapman podcast with Mark Chapman about news concerning clubs from around England.
One team that he spent a lot of time on was Arsenal, who, after losing to Everton on Saturday, have won just one of their last ten league games and are just four points above the relegation zone.
This has seen the pressure on Mikel Arteta increase, but it seems as if the Gunners are happy to stick with their man and believe in him much more than they ever did Unai Emery who was sacked in November 2019.
He said: “I do think the situation with Mikel Arteta is different, despite Arsenal being in a worse position than they were under Unai Emery.
“Arsenal have no appetite to make another managerial change.
“Moreover, they believe in Mikel Arteta, what he’s doing, his vision and philosophy, where he is trying to take the club in a way I don’t think they ever quite did under Unai Emery.
“I think they had reservations about Emery’s ways of working, his methods, his communication – both verbally in terms of his English, and also the messages he was trying to express.
“I think they are genuinely very happy with what they see in Arteta’s work.”

So, if Ornstein is to be believed, then the Spaniard has the full backing from his club, and they believe in him a lot more than Emery, who was sacked in November 2019 with the Gunners eight points from the top four.
Currently, under Arteta, Arsenal are in 15th 12 points from the top four, so the difference isn’t much, but if Ornstein is correct, the Gunners are happy to stick with Arteta.
He delivered an FA Cup in the 2019/20 season, but the league campaign this season has been pretty awful, and the pressure on Arteta has mounted, and we think it could be argued that he should be sacked; however, it is also nice to see a club sticking by their manager and hopefully, he can turn it around.
