Former Arsenal man Stewart Robson has piled on the praise for young Gunner Bukayo Saka for his efforts this season.

It’s certainly been a season to forget so far for Arsenal so far, with the Gunners well off their usual position of battling it out for a European spot. But that doesn’t mean there haven’t been a few bright sparks of joy for the supporters, and the 19-year-old England international is one of them.

When asked on ESPN FC to name the best young player in the Premier League, Robson went one step further than that, by saying that he’s been the best player for Mikel Arteta’s men this season regardless of age:

“He’s been played in several different positions,” he said. “So he’s played at left wing-back he’s played a left-sided attacking player. Today he was on the right-hand side. He’s been outstanding in most of the games that he’s played and he’s got that pace to run fast and he’s got a good appetite to work as well. So he’s been Arsenal’s best player over the course of this season.”

Can Saka go on to become an Arsenal legend?

Yes

Yes

No

No

It does seem a little bit weird that with the experienced players that Arsenal have at their disposal, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Willian that someone as young as him can hold down a regular place in the first-team and then even go on to outshine the majority of them.

He’s even managed to turn his club form into four appearances for the England national team, three of them being starts, so he’s clearly turning heads on the international front as well as at club level.

His flexibility as well will only hold him in good stead moving forward, increasing the chances that Arteta will be able to find a place for him regardless of formation or style that he wants to play, so expect to see a lot more of the 19-year-old as we move on through the season.
