The Athletic’s Derby County reporter Ryan Conway spent some time talking about Jordon Ibe’s wages during the latest live stream that he conducted via his YouTube channel.

This comes after the 25-year-old winger has been left out of the matchday squad for the vast majority of Derby’s games and has played just three minutes of Championship football for the East Midlands club this term since joining them on a free transfer in September following his summer departure from Bournemouth.

An easy one to kick off our quiz on the 2020 summer transfer window in the EFL, which player left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund?

In addition to playing a very insignificant role for the relegation-battling Rams since joining the club earlier this year, interim Derby County manager Wayne Rooney recently revealed that the club is conducting an internal disciplinary investigation into the £1.35m-rated man at present, so it may be fair to say that the ex-Liverpool man’s move to Pride Park has been far from positive for anyone involved thus far.

However, while discussing Ibe’s issues at Pride Park on this live stream, Conway did share that at the very least, the 25-year-old’s wages are not too costly for the club, saying:

“For those that pointed out his wages – I am led to believe that Jordon Ibe’s wages are peanuts. I’m talking, like, real slim pickings and also heavily incentivised, heavily, heavily incentivised contract I believe Jordon Ibe’s on.

“If that’s the case, while this sucks and, yes, obviously, he’s still getting paid, it’s not like it’s a massive hit every week in the balance sheet. So, there’s at least that.”

Do you think Ibe will come good for Derby?

TIF Thoughts on what Conway had to say about Ibe’s wages…

So, while Ibe’s time at Derby has been far from perfect and there will still surely be some concerns for Rams supporters with regard to the winger’s lack of involvement and recent apparent disciplinary issues, Conway’s revelation on his wages may go some way to easing some Rams fans’ concerns about his current situation.

With Ibe having not enjoyed much game time since joining Derby and the news of this internal disciplinary investigation now emerging, it will be interesting to see if the player can turn his Rams career around and ultimately come good for the club, or if this will ultimately prove to be a move that was doomed from the get-go.
