To kick off our latest EFL quiz, can you name which Championship team won by the biggest margin of any second-tier side this past weekend?

One of the teams which he spent a bit of time on was Derby County, and he provided a big takeover update for the Rams, with the proposed takeover by Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan thought to be edging closer to completion.

Sheikh Khaled has been linked with buying the likes of Newcastle United in the past, but he has decided to buy Derby instead, and McGarry has suggested that Derby fans won’t have too much longer to wait until it is announced.

He said: “It’s our information that the takeover by Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan is very close to being completed.

“Both Derby and the Sheikh expect an official announcement to be made this week, possibly within the next 48 hours.”

TIF Thoughts on the takeover of Derby…

This deal has been in the pipeline for a while now, and it seems an announcement is now imminent.

You would have to say that this takeover needs to happen quickly, with Derby struggling badly in the Championship.

The Rams are rock bottom of the table, four points from safety and 18 points away from the play-offs, so you would think that the aim this season would simply be to stay up.

The January transfer window is fast approaching, so the new owners might be given the opportunity to flex their muscles, but either way, if what McGarry says is true, then this could be some good news for Derby fans.

We hope that the takeover goes smoothly, and then the Rams can begin to build some momentum in the league.
