First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

One of the teams he spent a bit of time on was Derby County and their vacant manager position.

Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry has been linked with a move to Pride Park, but it seems as if, according to McGarry, that is unlikely to happen.

He said: “I noticed John Terry’s been mentioned in reports with regards to the job as head coach, although he is not someone whose name I have heard in conversations with regards to taking over at Pride Park.”

Do you think Terry should stay?

TIF Thoughts on Terry and McGarry’s information on him…

Terry has been with Aston Villa as an assistant since October 2018 after he ended his playing career at Villa Park.

He is said to have a good influence on the dressing room and has helped Tyrone Mings improve as a player, while he has been linked with the job at Derby with the impending takeover from Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan edging closer.

However, if McGarry is to be believed, then it looks like they have other candidates in mind, and Terry looks like he will stay at Villa for now.

Derby sacked Phillip Cocu with the takeover looming and have appointed Wayne Rooney as the ‘senior figure‘ in a group of coaches that include Shay Given and Liam Rosenior.

Still, the Rams are struggling badly and are rock bottom of the Championship, four points from safety.

So, maybe that wouldn’t be the ideal job for Terry to take on as his first job as a manager.

We believe Terry is better off staying at Villa Park anyway and waiting for another opportunity as a first-team manager.
