How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

So far this season, the £67.5 million-rated 28-year-old has highly impressed for Jose Mourinho’s side, scoring eight goals and providing two assists over his eight Premier League fixtures, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.83 – ranking him as the club’s third-best performer in the league.

As a result of his fine form, reports have emerged which claim that Tottenham are planning to offer the South Korean a new deal at the club, despite the fact his current deal in north London expires in the summer of 2023.

This was one subject of conversation on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, in which Romano stated his belief that Son’s new deal will see his salary line up with that of fellow Spurs forward, Harry Kane.

He said: “We can say that negotiations between the agents of Son and [the] Tottenham board are going to start soon. There is [a] good feeling to extend his contract for three or four years. Son wants to stay with Tottenham, he is so happy with Tottenham, he is so happy with Mourinho.

“[Even during a] difficult period [with the club], one year ago, for example, [he has] always been convinced about the project of Tottenham. So, now it’s time to negotiate. He wants, and it is possible, in my opinion, that he will have the same contract as Harry Kane. So, it will be an important contract for Son, [around] €12 million per season.

“Let’s see, but at the moment, there are good feelings, really good feelings, between the agents, [and the] Tottenham board. So, Son is going to negotiate with Tottenham to extend his contract and this is fantastic news.

“Also, some Spanish clubs asked [about] him last summer – no official bids, no advanced negotiations – but they asked for some [information from] the old agents of Son, and he always [said], ‘I want to stay’ and now it’s time to extend his contract. So, good luck to him and to Tottenham because he’s a fantastic player.”

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments regarding Son Heung-min’s contract situation…

From Romano’s comments, it is clear that the journalist is of the belief that Son and his agents will be entering into negotiations with Tottenham regarding a new deal in the very near future, and that the forward is very much enjoying his time at Spurs.

Romano also claims that there was interest in Son over the summer transfer window, however, the player always stated his desire to remain in north London, which, considering his blistering start to the season, looks to be extremely good news for Mourinho as well as fans of the club.
