Celtic pundit Paul John Dykes has given his opinion about the club’s striker Patryk Klimala.

Dykes was recently hosting the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel talked about multiple issues involving the Parkhead-based club. They also talked about Klimala and Dykes believes that the Polish striker isn’t anywhere near starting a game for Celtic.

Klimala had joined Celtic from Polish club Jagiellonia Bialystok in the January of 2020 for a fee of £3.60m. Since arriving at Parkhead, the 22-year-old has made only 17 appearances in all competitions and has scored three goals while picking up one assist (as per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Klimala is good enough for Celtic?

Dykes talked about Klimala and he feels that the Pole is the club’s fourth-choice striker in the current side.

He said: “Klimala’s a fourth-choice for me now. We asked the question earlier on when Griffiths was out of the picture, Klimala with his hard work ethic and all his conditioning, pushed himself into the third-choice. It is incredible to imagine that we were in a situation where Klimala started against Rangers.

“I know there were issues around Edouard with illness, Ajeti – who should’ve been playing that day, but his fitness wasn’t as he thought it was on matchday, and we opted for Klimala. So, I don’t think he’s anywhere near starting a game for Celtic at this moment in time.”

TIF Thoughts on Dykes’ comments regarding Klimala…

This season, Klimala has made ten Premiership appearances for the Bhoys and he has found the back of the net three times. He has made only two starts and the rest of them have been appearances from the bench (as per WhoScored).

Despite having scored thrice in the league, only four players have picked up lesser ratings than him in the Premiership for Celtic. He is also the lowest-rated striker at the club with a rating of only 6.40 (as per WhoScored). This shows why Dykes believes that Klimala is the club’s fourth-choice striker and it is easy to understand why.
