Pundit Stevie Mullen has recently made a claim about the position of Neil Lennon and his coaching staff at Celtic.

Mullen was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Hoops. One topic of discussion was Lennon and Mullen believes that if the Celtic boss does leave at some point this season, the whole coaching staff has to leave with him.

Celtic are currently second in the Scottish Premiership and they find themselves nine points behind the Gers and have two games in hand. They’ve not won a single game in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League and find themselves at the bottom of their group.

Do you think Neil Lennon's position is under threat?

Mullen talked about Lennon and he believes that if Celtic do make a change, it has to be made right across the board.

He said: “I think if you are making a change, you need to make it right across the board. Everybody goes or none of them go. I don’t think you can go, ‘Right, I’m going to identify him but we’ll keep them because they’re doing well.’

“I think you’ve had enough of that with previous incumbents – getting guys that you need to work alongside. If it’s not working, it’s not working for them all.”

TIF Thoughts on Mullen’s comments…

Following Celtic’s 3-3 draw against Aberdeen in the Premiership, Lennon had said that there is ‘no justification’ to sack him. He said that theories about dressing room conflicts are nothing but ‘fake news’ and the Celtic manager shouldn’t have to defend himself (as per Sky Sports).

Journalist Ian McGarry has stated onĀ The Transfer Window podcast (via GiveMeSport) that Lennon currently has the trust of the Celtic chief executive and the club’s board. This suggests that despite a rather underwhelming start to the campaign, Lennon will stay at Celtic and therefore, speculating about his future might be unfair.
