Celtic pundit Paul John Dykes has made it clear that he fears the exit of Ryan Christie.

Dykes was hosting the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. One topic of discussion was Christie and Dykes fears his potential Parkhead exit in the future when he looks at how he performed for Scotland against Serbia.

Christie had been Scotland’s highest-rated player in the game against Serbia and he had even scored the team’s only goal of the game in normal time. In the summer transfer window, he was linked with a move to Burnley and his current deal at Celtic runs out in the summer of 2022.

Dykes believes that Christie is ‘pivotal’ to any sort of success that Celtic have in the 2020/21 campaign.

He said: “When Ryan Christie goes out there and performs as he did, certainly in the first game, and then obviously he gets all the accolades and the interview afterwards obviously was a big part of that, it makes me worry that we’re going to lose him. And hopefully, we don’t, certainly in January, because I’ve said time and time again on this podcast – I think he’s pivotal to any success Celtic have this season.”

TIF Thoughts on Dykes’ comments regarding Ryan Christie…

Christie has been the club’s highest-rated player in the Premiership this season and he has already contributed to seven league goals for the team (as per WhoScored).

While this shows how important he is for the Bhoys, Christie’s father has previously said that the midfielder is ‘ambitious’. He also said that while the Scotsman loves to play for Celtic, he has no doubts about the fact that other clubs will be looking at him. He also believes that Ryan can ply his trade at the very top level (as per Glasgow Times).

This suggests that Celtic fans should be concerned about Christie’s situation and considering the interest from Burnley in the summer, it might be possible that his situation at Parkhead isn’t certain.
