Celtic pundit Paul John Dykes has recently made a claim about the club’s star striker Odsonne Edouard.

Dykes was recently hosting the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. One topic of discussion was Edouard, and Dykes believes that the Frenchman wants to leave Celtic – but hopes the club can keep hold of him over the upcoming January window.

Edouard initially joined Celtic on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017, but he moved to Parkhead permanently in the summer of 2018. In the recent summer transfer window, the Frenchman was linked with a move to clubs such as Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Aston Villa (as per The Scottish Sun). He is currently valued at £13.5m (as per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Edouard can leave Celtic in January?

Dykes believes that he can see Edouard turning his form around this season. He said: “I’m hoping that he looks at the situation as it stands and yeah, he wants a move – of course he does. No one thinks otherwise, the boy wants a move. I don’t want that move to happen in January. I don’t think any Celtic fan would, even based on his poor form, and I see him turning it around this season.”

TIF Thoughts on Dykes’ comments regarding Edouard…

During the summer transfer window, Edouard’s agent said that the player is ‘happy’ at Celtic and he enjoying his life in Scotland right now. He said that winning Celtic’s 10th Premiership title in a row is still ‘important’ for Edouard and playing in the Champions League isn’t ‘crucial’ for him (as per Daily Record).

That might suggest that Edouard isn’t really desperate to leave the club this season and wants to help the club win the league. So despite things not quite going to plan on the pitch so far this season, perhaps Celtic fans should not be too worried about his situation as things stand.
