Celtic pundit Jim Orr has recently made a claim about the future of Callum McGregor at Parkhead.

Orr was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. One topic of discussion was the future of McGregor and Orr believes that the midfielder won’t be a Celtic player next season.

McGregor is a product of the Celtic youth academy and the Scotsman had made his debut for the club’s first team in the 2014/15 campaign. In the current season, the midfielder has made 19 appearances in all competitions and has scored three goals already.

Will McGregor leave Celtic in the summer of 2021?

Orr believes that McGregor can play for any club in England and he would be able to multiply his wages while playing down south.

He said: “I don’t think Callum McGregor nor Ryan Christie will be here next year at Celtic Park.”

He later said: “I think, Callum McGregor, he can play for anyone down south. Whatever number he’s on, it’s going to be multiplied by a big number if he goes down south.

“If he’s mixing with the Kieran [Tierneys] and the Andy Robertsons of this world, [the] Stuart Armstrongs of this world – then he’ll know the money that’s on offer.”

TIF Thoughts on Orr’s comments regarding McGregor’s future at Celtic…

McGregor was linked with a move to Leicester City in the summer transfer window and it was reported that the Foxes were looking to make a £20million bid for the Scottish midfielder (as per Football Insider).

In the current campaign, McGregor has made 12 Premiership appearances for the Bhoys and he has directly contributed to five goals. Because of that, he has picked up a rating of 7.36 (as per WhoScored). He has been the club’s third-best player in the league campaign.

This suggests that he is a very important player and because of that, letting him go may not be a good decision for Celtic.
