Ian McGarry has been speaking on the latest edition of The Transfer Window podcast about news from a few clubs around Europe, and one of those teams that he spent some time on was Celtic.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

The Bhoys have won just one of their last nine games, and their last two results have seen them crash out of the Europa League and the Scottish League Cup.

So the pressure on Neil Lennon is intensifying, and it seems that, according to McGarry, if Celtic do decide to replace the Northern Irishman, then they will want to replace him with a former player or manager with Gordon Strachan mentioned as a potential candidate for the job.

He said: “We have been told that if Celtic were to make a change, it would most likely be a former manager or even player who manages to come in because they would understand immediately what’s at stake.

“Gordon Strachan is one name that’s been mentioned; he had a successful spell managing Celtic already. He certainly knows the culture and the club inside out.

“He’s currently working for a [TV] station covering Scottish football, so he’s seen the games, he can see the problems and the positives.”

Would you like Strachan to be made Celtic boss?

TIF Thoughts on Celtic and Strachan…

This is a huge season for the Bhoys as they seek to win their tenth Scottish Premiership title in a row, but they are currently 11 points behind Rangers and have lost the first Old Firm derby of the season as well.

Strachan managed Celtic for four years in which time he won six trophies, so he knows the club, and he knows what it takes to win in Scotland.

Certainly, the form that Celtic are in cannot continue if they hope to achieve anything and if McGarry is right, and the club only wants to bring in a former manager, then we feel they could do a lot worse than Strachan as he has been successful with the Bhoys in the past.
